Canada's Farmers Market Online Inc. was founded by Melanie Breitkreutz in January 2009. Selling a specialty food item at the time, Melanie spent countless hours searching for creative ways to advertise her product to the online shopper. "Where are other quality market type products being sold online and where can I find the type of buyers that would be interested in my specialty product?" Not finding any one fitting online solution, Melanie came up with the vision of an online farmers market. A community of artists, farmers, bakers, crafters, and growers who all sell year round and are wanting to sell online. Scratching out a loose drawing of the types of market goods that could be offered, Melanie envisioned the endless possibilities of the other products and services that could be involved. Mompreneurs, partnerships, individuals and businesses alike could benefit from a team of like-minded sellers. In May of 2009, www.farmersmarketonline.ca was born.
